"Finally the Rock has come back to Oxnard" That's what I was yelling when I got the hemi started today. Got off work at 4pm and came home to get this engine started. Double checked all fluids, made sure all electrical connections were good, had couple my Buddy's on the watch for any oil leaks, water leaks or burning wires. started up the engine and keep ed the rpm's between 2,200 and 2,800 hundred, set the timing and waited for 30 minutes. after the brake in I removed the oil filter and opened it up for a quick inspection, all looked good so I replaced the filter and oil too. Broke in the camshaft with torco brake in oil now I have Valvoline's 20w50 racing oil with high zinc in it. here's some brake in video...
after the brake in period the oil was replaced, I added water wetter to the radiator, some bahr's leak radiator stuff and started up the engine to check and adjust the timing. Set the carburetor and idle and did couple good revs. Really sounds good, just like I thought it would. Donnie Johansen re-ground the camshaft and also with new old stock Howard's anti-pump lifters it should really rev-up.
Man tomorrow I will trade places with the chevelle and take the truck out for a spin. Next I want to install the two tops of the hood and finish the transmission tunnel. Here's the last video..

Getting close...
Put some work in tonight, I managed to get all the odd and ends on the engine. The electrical is in, alternator, radiator, hoses, belt, floors, firing order. I wanted to get it started tonight but I was really running out of time. I don't think the neighbors would want to hear the engine running at 2,200 rpm for 25 minutes next to their room windows. So I will try tomorrow and hopefully I will have some spotters to help with all the fluid checks and make sure every thing is okay. Here's some photos...
Here's a side shot, I installed the wire cover but on the passenger side I need to do a little trimming.
Hopefully every things checks out okay and I could make it to Santa Maria next weekend.

Carb,intake,water pump, exhaust.....
Had some time today to work on the truck, installed the water pump, intake manifold, carb, fuel pump, exhaust, oil and prime the engine and new valve cover gaskets with new tube seals, spark plugs, dizzy. That's all I got cuz I had to leave for my Lil sisters graduation. She just graduated from college and heading to a 4 year university.
Up next will be to route the ignition wires, electrical connections for starter, coil, alternator, battery, grounds ( don't forget the grounds), radiator, fan, brackets for the alternator, belt and add water and gas. Then we fire it up. So more progress pictures later, maybe some video.

More progress on "Hemi Time"
Got in the garage last night and started making some little patch panels for my fire wall recess before I stab the engine back in. I also painted the fire wall again but the shade of the primer is off abit, hopefully it will fade and look better.
Today I was able to get the engine back in and paint my headers all with the help of my friend Richard. Always good help when you need it.
I was going through the settings on my phone and found some cool effects for photos.
This is white board
solarized
black and white
Polaroid faded
there is more settings but this is good for now.
for tomorrow the water pump, fuel pump, radiator, exhaust,
intake manifold, prime the engine, dial in the dizzy, top off all fluids,
electrical, check battery charge, new oil, oil filter, the start and brake in the cam.

Fire wall..
Tonight I welded up some unesessary holes on the firewall. I wanted to keep it as clean as possible, I still need to make some patch panels before I use metal filler and prime and paint the firewall. Keep you guys posted. Up next is adjusting the valve train on the hemi.
