CHINEY STUFF ! New intake manifold...

I have been sick for last couple days and today I felt a little better now that I have some good medicine. I was watching some "Chop Cut and Rebuild" show and "Cafe Racer" and I thought to my self "what the heck am I doing watching these guys for" I got a car to finish! The owner of the car bought a new intake manifold, valve covers, air cleaner, MSD ignition system and a battery relocation set with an Optima battery. I removed the old intake manifold and got all surfaces cleaned up.

New Endura Shine Air Gap

Installed the new manifold and got the new distributor on. I replaced the stock stiff springs in the dizzy with the blue ones for faster timing advance.

Msd 6al and mechanical dizzy with wires and blaster coil.

I reinstalled the carb and linkage. I test fit the valve covers and found that the edge of the finned valve covers were going to hit the manifold so I had to clearance the edge for them to fit properly.

Valve cover clearance, also installed internal baffles.

Once the valve covers were on I got the spark plug wires on along with the trick wire holders. The new air cleaner went on too.

Next is the battery relocation and MSD box hook up to get this puppy on the road again.

Some music that got me through the day.

Root canal

My tooth started hurting couple day's ago. I left work for a 3 pm appointment to see my regular dentist. He checked it out and sent me over to a specialist. 1 hour later the job was done. 1 root canal with 4 roots to kill. Not bad. Here's some photos. Check out the rubber mouth peace it's to make sure no saliva gets in. That would cause an infection.

Finally Got Idle

Finally !!! I got the 65 Chevelle to idle. After a few weeks of doing the holiday honey do list I got some time to work on the chevelle. I had already spent several days braking the engine and now it was time to get the timing on point and get the car to idle. The owner of the car has also put more on my plate by buying a new intake manifold and new MSD ignition system. He also has some nice valve covers and air cleaners that are going on after the engine is running good. I can't wait to get this car on the road just because it reminds me of the engine I built for my 65 chevelle except for the camshaft, mine was a solid lift. It really sounds mean too. Here's some video of it at idle. I will be posting more next week after I come back from a Cowboys Football game.

Christmas Lights

Every year after thanksgiving we put up our christmas lights to start off the festivities. We have a classic look to our home so we don't go over board with the decore. We have bulb type LED's and Snoopy and friends skating on our portch. We also put up a custom made reath on the door too. Next is the chrisrmas tree and our "Nacimiento" for baby Jesus. We use old Bearista bears for ornaments in our tree, thats our little coffee taste. Here's some pic's

Honey do list

I was off for a week getting stuff done in the garage and around the house. When winter comes you have to make sure you home is water ready. So I do my usual checks around the house make sure every thing is up to par. The front and side porch lights were realy ugly looking and after the little face lift we gave the house they were an eye sore. We when to several home improvement stores and found some cool LED lamps that look so nice and cool. Got them on and waited till night fall, oh how the neighbors noticed. Check them out.

The right spark......

I was changing out the spark plugs on the 65chevelle because they looked suspicius and I did not buy them. The plugs that were on the car were Accel U grove plugs you get at Pep Boys. The orginal owner must have asked for them cause they gave him regular SBC plugs. The sprak plugs needed for aluminum edelbrock heads or any good head is flat washer style. 750 by 3/4 reach so I picked up some Champion RY12YC plugs. The Accels were tappered and only had a 1/2 reach. Well will see if it makes a difference. Dont trust those counter guys, do your home work first.

My first car.

I was going through an old photo album and found some pictures of my 65 chevelle that I was building through high school. I had this car for 4 years before it got stolen from a body shop. The car was a Chevelle Malibu Coupe with a 250 in line six and a 2 speed power glide. I tore t hat engine out and build a solid short block with 10.1 forged pistons and all ARP hardware. The rods were reconditioned and the crank was ground and side clearanced. The original heads were gone through but eventually I got some Edelbrock aluminum heads and a solid lift cam to go with it. I had a stock 10 bolt rear end with an Eaton posi, Richmond 4.11 gears, forged Superior Axel's. The transmission was a built th350 with a 3k B&M stall Hole Shot converter. For suspension I has Moroso front trick springs and 90/10 race shocks, the rear was stock new springs with boxed trailing arms and Lakewood anti hop bars and 70/30 racing shocks. The 350 was pretty stout, 10.1 with good heads, hooker headers, 750 Holley carb, Edelbrock air gap manifold, Crane Cams gold roller rockers, Com cams Solid lift .525 cam, TCI rattler dampener, solid motor mount, Edelbrock high flow fuel pimp. The shifter was a B& M mega shifter and the transmission had a stage 2 shift kit. The exhaust was a custom built 2.5 inch H pipe with Flow Master 2 chamber mufflers done by Kenz Muffler. The car was pretty quick for a pump gas car and my first attempt at a good street stomper. I would say it would have ran 12's on the 1/4 mile due to the fact that some of the cars I raced were in that time zone. Here's some pictures of my old ride...

This was after I had done the front disc brake conversion.
No kits were availble then just know what car was the doner.

This was before i got the rear end built and the Weld wheels.

Here you could see the stock heads, RPM manifold, Edelbrock carburetor,
Check out the trick ignition, external coil with MSD ignition runnig the timing.

These show the new Edelbrock heads, air gap manifold, Holley 750, TCI rattler,
Brand new at the time Chevrolet valve covers.

Man I miss this car, I learned alot from this build.

Dia De Los Muertos

My lady and I went to our buddy Tizok birthday halloween bash. We dint want to spend cash on a halloween suit so we decided to go old school and do a traditional "Dia de los muertos" face paint. Last time I painted my face was 12 years ago when I was a vampire so it took a while to get this down. My wife on the other hand is a pro at makeup application so she was done quick. I had to wash my face off three times before I was satisfied. Heres some pics.

Pyromaniac

I must have been a pyro in my past life cause I love playing with fire since I was a kid. Luckily I have never burnt any thing to the ground. Today we decided to clean up the patio and get ready for the winter partys I have here at the house. We have a fire pit that we use to stay warm while we drink out side. I have been noticing a lot of thick web from the bottom of the pit. I knew it was a black widow, I flipped the thing over and found the mother load. I had carb cleaner and couple matches for rotisery style spider. Here's some pics.

How cold, ice cold!

This 65 chevelle i have been working on has a pritty weak cooling system, 3 row small radiator withsome tranny cooler fans on it. No justice for this lil beast. The owner called me up and we came to a decision for a new cooling system. We already have a high flow aluminum water pump so now we got a 4 row aluminum radiator with a shroud and two high out put fans. I'm going to gut out the thermostat so it acts like a restrictor plate with a 1/2 in. Hole, were going to use distilled water with royal purple "purple ice" that sould cool it off. Heres the old and new cooling system. Were are also adding an external trans cooler too.

Weather rized 36 Ford

Well as you know the rain came early, the 36 now being my daily driver I had to make it some what weather tight. I needed to get the engine covered from the rain, spark plug holes are wide open and the dizzy cap is vulnerable to water. I also needed to keep water from coming in to the cab from around the front and rear window channels. The cowl hole got plugged with screws when I added the cowl lace. I got the hood cleaned up and painted with rustoleum satin black straped it down with a ratcheting strap. Kind of cheesy but it works. I drove the truck today and I really need to finish my floors and add a wiper motor. Heres some pictures with the hood on. Oh and I also treated our selves to new mattres. Woo hoo!
